For the hot hatch and particularly JDM enthusiasts, back in the 2000s was a pretty good time that the hot hatch market was able to provide in quantity.
Used and new, there was much that one could buy, with this article presenting an iconic (and at the time getting old) nameplate and generation with a new contender from the likes that produced the Group B era 205 T16.
This scan was lifted from a Motoring (Singapore) issue from August 2000. As shown, the cars represented in the article are the Honda Civic VTi, chassis code EG6, and the Peugeot 206 GTi.
"The swoopy teardrop styling of the three-door EG Civic is as attrractive today as it was back in the early 90's". 25 years since the article, I think it still is among many communities across the country. Singapore on the other hand? I think most have moved on.
Us, here on CharadeSG and Archivals, we still like these old bangers. Hell, I bought a SiR EG9, the same generation as the hatch but in sedan form, and I'm willing to put up with the ever-growing moneypit these old cars don't fail to become.
Anyways, enjoy the scan and the article.
This scan was admittedly very rushed, and I will look into rescanning it in the future.
