Efini:
Good afternoon, this entry releases a scan of a Japanese Lotus Elan.
First two pages present a similar model year (MY) Eunos Roadster, a direct competitor to the M100.
The Elan pictured is a 1990/1991 MY unit, indicated by non-early headlights and rear trunk cutout. Going via a rear shot, this example used bears a shortened rear fascia panel for the license plate.
Noting specific markets where this is used is currently hard (for us) to tell. Singapore market Elans use the UKDM standard of the rectangular license plate format like the UK (excluding Japanese imports).
Some other markets like Japan use a squarish shape for its license plates - which would be befitting of the Elan in markets like Japan.
As Japan has both LHD and RHD units with varying rear fascia designs, an expert in the Japanese market models is preferred to explain the differences between all examples brought into Japan.
Article scanned from Motor Magazine 10 (Japan), October 1992 release.
